Choosing a name for your new dog is a big decision. After all, it’s a personal and meaningful choice and you’ll be repeating it countless times for many years to come, so picking a suitable name for the newest member of your family is important. Before settling on a favorite you might want to consider these tips:
Keep it to one or two syllables. “Alexandra” might be just a bit too long.
Don’t pick a name that sound too similar to another family member’s name. If you daughter’s is “Anna” you’ll want to avoid “Hannah” for the dog. If the cat’s name is Jax, don’t name the dog Max.
Avoid names that rhyme with commands: “Bo” and “No”, “Mit” and “Sit” or “Tae” and “Stay”.
